Sarah Jacobson - Medical School REgional RepresentativeĀ

OMS2 Burrell College of Osteopathic MedicineĀ

Sarah began her career in healthcare when she enlisted in the US Army Reserve to train as a combat medic (EMT) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 2001. She deployed to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany from 2004-2005, where she provided care for US soldiers, allies, and civilian contractors wounded in Operation Enduring and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sarah completed her BSN at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and trained in critical care nursing. She spent some years working as a travel nurse before applying to medical school and is now an OMSI at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in Las Cruces, NM. The UNM School of Medicine International and Mountain Medicine Center Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) course was her first exposure to the amazing ways a healthcare degree could be applied outdoors. Sarah joined Taos Search and Rescue in 2019 and is part of the technical rescue, winter skills, and medical units. She has been able to keep in touch with her team for training and meetings remotely with the new requirements for social distancing in the age of Zoom.

Sarah is excited to be a part of an organization furthering access to knowledge of the adventure and opportunity that lies beyond the clinical walls.
